Recording Documents
Recording Instructions
It is important for our customers to give us accurate and detailed instructions when sending documents for recording. These instructions should tell us:
- which documents are to be recorded
- who to call with recording information
- what, if anything, we are to hold for
- where to deliver the abstract in final form.
Call us at 563-326-0511 if you would like preprinted instruction pads or click on our Forms link for a copy of the filing instruction sheet.
Pre Closing Searches
Many lenders request an updated search prior to filing so that they can pay out at closing. After the closing, we pick up the documents to record.
Recording of Documents
After all documents for recording have been received and searches updated, we take all the documents to the Scott County Recorders' office to be recorded at which point they become part of the public record.
Reporting
For our customers, an abstract prepared quickly and accurately means completion of the transaction on schedule. We will search Scott County records for any changes, record the documents with the appropriate public office, and then report back to you that all documents are of record. We keep the line of communication open between everyone involved in the sale. We will do everything to enhance and insure your good reputation within the business community.
